Min­is­ter of Rur­al De­vel­op­ment and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Khadi­jah Ameen says she will not be in­tim­i­dat­ed by threats to her safe­ty and re­mains com­mit­ted to serv­ing her con­stituents and the wider pub­lic.

Speak­ing to the me­dia to­day, Ameen praised the se­cu­ri­ty ser­vices for their ef­forts, say­ing, “I want to com­mend those who are re­spon­si­ble for our safe­ty, for their con­tin­u­ous ad­vice, their con­tin­u­ous in­for­ma­tion-gath­er­ing, in­tel­li­gence-gath­er­ing, and putting the nec­es­sary sys­tems in place to keep us safe.”

She stressed the im­por­tance of main­tain­ing her pres­ence in St. Au­gus­tine and across Trinidad, not­ing, “The threats or per­ceived threats will not hin­der our work and our com­mit­ment.”
