Authorities are once again searching for 16-year-old Janiah Skinner, a ward of the St. Jude’s Home for Girls, after she ran away for the third time in under two years.
The latest incident occurred around 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt. Hope. According to reports, Skinner had been receiving medical treatment and was being escorted by caregivers back to a transport vehicle when she suddenly broke free and ran toward a silver Nissan X-Trail parked near the mortuary. She reportedly entered the vehicle and fled the scene. The vehicle’s registration number remains unknown.
Skinner, who is of African descent, is described as brown in complexion, of slim build, with short brown hair, a small scar on her right cheek, and a speech stammer. At the time of her escape, she was wearing a black Muslim gown, hijab, brown tights, black vest, black socks, and white-and-black Nike slippers.
