WHEN Mr Rudolph Speid was handed the reins as interim head coach of the national senior men’s football team — the Reggae Boyz — there was little sense of excitement.
His appointment came at the end of another disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign, and, perhaps more significantly, at a time when many Jamaicans had convinced themselves that the answer to the national team’s problems had to come from somewhere overseas.
Unlike his predecessors, Mr Speid, therefore, inherited the job without the benefit of a honeymoon.
