As he left a meeting with foreign allies at the G7 (Group of 7) meeting in Canada yesterday, US State Secretary Marco Rubio called reports that the United Kingdom had halted the sharing of its intelligence resources on suspected drug carrying vessels in the Caribbean “fake news.”
He was referring to a CNN report earlier this week that the UK, which controls from US territories allegedly made the decision as it believed the strikes, which have thus far killed 75, violated international law.
“I’m not going to go into great detail other than to say it’s a false story, a fake story. What’s happening now is people with business cards and a government email become ‘sources’ even though they’re not in the know. They either have an agenda or want to make themselves important. It’s been a plague of story after story that’s either inaccurate or misleading, and that story falls in both categories,” he said yesterday.
