Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander and former minister in the Ministry of National Security Keith Scotland butted heads on Wednesday, over a $50 million budget allocation to carry out "covert operations" in the nation's prisons.
Scotland raised a question over the funding for "extraordinary expenditure" during the Standing Finance Committee's (SFC) scrutiny of the 2026 budget allocations and recurrent expenditure for the Ministry of Homeland Security at the Red House, Port of Spain.
The Port of Spain South MP, who found that the Opposition's questions were not being properly addressed, flagged the $50 million allocation and asked:
