Chief Secretary Farley Augustine and Assistant Secretary Sonny Craig have publicly commended Canadians Sarah Perrson of Sweden and Anna Hospedales for their heroic efforts in assisting Caribbean Airlines pilot Christon Battersby who was critically injured when he jumped from the Pigeon Point jetty last Saturday.
Battersby, a First Officer and member of the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTAPA), was unconscious when pulled from the water. Witnesses recalled how onlookers scrambled to help, but it was the quick-thinking and selfless actions of Perrson and Hospedales that proved crucial in ensuring he survived.
