All fish markets and the Barbados Fisheries Division (BFD) will be closed on Monday, July 13, to facilitate staff attendance at the official funeral of the late Chief Fisheries Officer, Dr Shelly-Ann Cox. The temporary closure is in recognition of Dr Cox’s distinguished service and outstanding contribution to the Ministry of the Environment, National Beautification and Fisheries, and to the sustainable development of Barbados’ fisheries sector.
Members of the public, including vendors, fishers, processors, exporters, importers and other stakeholders are therefore encouraged to make the necessary arrangements and conduct any urgent business in advance. Normal operations and services will resume on Tuesday, July 14.
The Ministry of the Environment, National Beautification and Fisheries apologises for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause, and thanks members of the public for their understanding, as the life and legacy of a dedicated public servant is honoured.
