Intimidation, disrespect and toxic workplace relationships have become sufficiently entrenched in some Guyanese workplaces that the Government is now calling for a fundamental change in how supervisors and employees treat one another.
Public Service Minister Dr Zulfikar Ally made the call on September 25 as the Ministries of Public Service and Human Services launched a Gender Equality in the Workplace initiative, alongside a Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) training programme.
Ally said workplace violence cannot be reduced to physical attacks, warning that intimidation and the way workers are made to feel can also constitute harmful conduct.
