State ordered to pay brothers $500,000 after police framed them

The State has been ordered to pay more than $500,000 in compensation to two brothers who were framed by police for marijuana trafficking.

In a judgment delivered on Tuesday, High Court Judge Westmin James upheld the brothers’ claims for wrongful arrest, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.

The brothers’ identities were withheld after their attorney, Darryl Heeralal, raised security concerns about them receiving the compensation.
