GEORGETOWN, Guyana, June 29, 2026 – Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, is encouraging homeowners, developers and builders to place greater emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainable construction practices as Guyana’s housing sector continues to expand.
Speaking at a seminar hosted by the Central Housing and Planning Authority during the ongoing International Building Expo 2026 at the National Stadium in Providence, the minister said the conversation about housing development must extend beyond simply constructing houses.
“When you are building your home, you have to look at energy efficiency,” Minister Croal told participants, noting that factors such as building materials, home design and construction regulations all play an important role in creating more sustainable and cost-effective homes.
