Kaieteur News – The Delegation of the European Union to Guyana on Sunday hosted the 4th European Union Bicycle Tour of Georgetown bringing cyclists and other non-motorised road users together for an early-morning tour through the capital.
The tour rolled off just after 06:00hrs from the Vlissengen Road entrance of the Botanical Gardens and was open to participants with bicycles, roller skates and foot scooters, the EU Delegation said in a press release. Participants included Ministers, Priya Manickchand and Susan Rodrigues, members of the Guyana Cycling Federation and the City Constabulary.
In brief remarks EU Ambassador to Guyana, Luca Pierantoni, highlighted that, cycling is a great way to ease traffic, improve health, spend time outdoors, and perhaps even combine morning exercise with the daily commute. He also thanked the European Chamber of Commerce Guyana and Blue Spring Water for co-sponsoring the event.
