Back 2 Da Future Music Limited has announced that its annual music recognition ceremony will move forward under a new name and expanded format as the Excellence in Music Ceremony 2026.
Formerly known as the Grammy Certificate Ceremony, the event will return to Jamaica on September 15 at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston. The new name reflects the ceremony's growth beyond a single category of recognition, while preserving its original purpose for those whose work has helped shape reggae, dancehall, and global music history.
“The Excellence in Music Ceremony allows us to widen the lens,” said Kennedy Mensah, founder of Back 2 Da Future Music Limited. “This is about the people behind the music, the players of instruments, writers, producers, engineers, singers and visionaries whose work has travelled across borders and generations. The name has changed because the mission has grown, but the heart of the ceremony remains the same: giving unsung contributors their night in the spotlight.”
