Guyana govt raises capsized ferry death toll to 53

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AFP) — At least 53 people died after a ferry capsized off Guyana’s coast over the weekend, the government said Tuesday.

The search for survivors is ongoing after the MV Barima flipped over late Saturday. The previous death toll stood at 41.
