All 777 schools reopen but problems remain

THOUGH all 777 government-run and government-assisted schools reopened for a new school term yesterday after the two-month-long July/August vacation period, the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) says issues at a number of facilities across the country have yet to be addressed.

The start of a new academic year began yesterday despite complaints emerging among stakeholders over the course of the last week. The ministry on Monday confirmed the reopening of all schools in an official release. But by yesterday afternoon, the association said far too many problems had been reported.

NEW TERM: Students of Grant Memorial Presbyterian Primary School walk to classes on the first day of the new school term yesterday. Infants to Standard Two students have been relocated from the school’s Carib Street, San Fernando, location after a section of the school building was deemed unsafe by the Ministry of Works. The students will occupy a prepared space at St Paul’s Anglican School on Ruth Avenue, San Fernando, during the new school term.
