COMMISSIONER of Police Allister Guevarro said officers searching for two-year-old Angelo Tobias Plaza were sent on false leads following the sharing of CCTV footage related to the case.
Speaking during a news conference at the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain, the Commissioner revealed that investigators had recovered CCTV footage which he described as crucial to the investigation, but said the release of that footage on social media had negatively affected police enquiries.
'For some strange reason that crucial piece of evidence ended up on social media,' he said.
