The Trinidad and Tobago Promoters Association (TTPA) has again called on the government to reconsider its recent ban on hosting Carnival fetes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Hasely Crawford Stadium, and Jean Pierre Complex.
In a ten-page December 1 letter addressed to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, TTPA President Robert Thompson highlighted the severe impact the ban would have on promoters, performers, and over 60,000 expected attendees, as well as thousands of service providers who rely on these events for their livelihoods.
The ban, announced in November 2025, cited noise pollution concerns and applies to fetes outside a limited permitted window during Carnival 2026. Promoters argue the decision is unfair, coming just weeks before the start of the Carnival season, and could force the cancellation of several major events already licensed and planned for January and February.
