A man was arrested and a high-powered weapon seized in the Laventille district on Friday.
According to a police media release on Tuesday, the arrest and seizure were due to "quick work by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force".
Officers responding to a report of wounding by shooting at Village Council Street, Laventille, around 5.10 p.m. on January 30 were alerted to several loud explosions coming from another street and proceeded to investigate. Upon arrival, the officers observed a male suspect running away from the area with a bag in his possession. The officers gave chase and held the suspect a short distance away.
