Kaieteur News – Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill has revealed that, as of 6 p.m. on July 19, two persons who were onboard the MV Barima, which capsized on Saturday night, have been confirmed dead.
Edghill had initially disclosed that the vessel was carrying 116 passengers and 17 crew members, a total of 133 persons onboard at the time of the incident.
However, during an update this evening, officials revealed that several of the 67 persons rescued were not listed on the vessel’s official manifest. Minister Edghill labelled it a criminal action and stressed that officials, “we really don’t know the real number right now..”
