The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is warning motorists against dangerous overtaking and reckless driving, particularly manoeuvres involving multiple vehicles, excessive speed and passing on the left where it is not legally permitted.
In a statement posted on its social media page on Sunday, the Force reminded drivers that dangerous driving is an offence under Section 36(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, and can result in accidents, injuries and loss of life.
The GPF said it had observed instances of motorists attempting dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, including passing several vehicles at once, weaving through traffic and overtaking in areas where visibility is restricted.
