Dog follows hearse carrying owner to her final resting place

THERE were tears among mourners on Tuesday as a dog ran behind the hearse carrying the remains of its owner, Elizabeth “Betty” Davis.

The dog had disappeared two weeks earlier while the family was searching for Davis.

But on Tuesday, it returned to the family’s Haniff Trace home and, as the hearse carrying Davis’ body left for St Mary’s Public Cemetery, the dog ran behind it. Mourners watched through tears as the animal chased the hearse along the road.
