(Kaieteur News) – Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh on Wednesday urged Guyanese businesses to take advantage of a £3 billion financing facility available through UK Export Finance (UKEF), the United Kingdom’s export credit agency.
Singh made the call while addressing a private sector workshop hosted by the British High Commission and UKEF at the World Trade Centre, Kingston, Georgetown, under the theme “Unlocking Financing Opportunities for Guyanese Businesses.”
The session was aimed at helping local businesses understand how UK-backed financing can be mobilised to acquire equipment, technology, goods and services, particularly in sectors including renewable energy, transport infrastructure, healthcare and agriculture. In a press release, the Ministry of Finance said Singh pointed to UKEF’s expansion of its export financing support for Guyana to £3 billion in October 2025, describing the move as a strong vote of confidence in the commercial opportunities emerging from Guyana’s rapidly expanding economy.
