The Saharan dust that often blankets Barbados may be an annoyance for people with allergies, but scientists say it also plays an important role in protecting the region.
Researchers marking 60 years of dust monitoring at Ragged Point say the dust can help reduce hurricane activity while also supporting ecosystems across the Atlantic.
