Se­nior po­lice of­fi­cials in the South­ern Di­vi­sion say crime is down in their ju­ris­dic­tion and they plan to keep it that way, de­spite 36 re­ports of home in­va­sions since the start of the year.

Speak­ing dur­ing the week­ly me­dia brief­ing at the Po­lice Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing, Port-of-Spain, yes­ter­day, Supt Lystra Bridge­lal said 12 of the re­port­ed home in­va­sion cas­es had been solved, rep­re­sent­ing a 32 per cent de­tec­tion rate.

Bridge­lal said a re­cent break­through in the Gas­par­il­lo area re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of 11 peo­ple, who have since been placed on Pre­ven­tive De­ten­tion Or­ders (PDOs).
