THE proposed 100-kilometre highway linking San Fernando to Mayaro, announced by Works and Infrastructure Minister Jearlean John on Thursday, is not a new plan and dates back to at least 2009.
Speaking during a Power-Point presentation titled 'Trinidad and Tobago's Revitalisation Blueprint' at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann's, John said the first phase of the highway, from Tarouba to Princes Town, is already out to tender.
The proposed highway is part of a broader plan of 129 projects under 12 development nodes aimed at stimulating a decade-long construction boom and thousand of jobs.
