Walking through the streets of China in August 2025, 19-year-old Carmelo Onfroy found himself paying less attention to the food and more to the people.
“It brought a joy to my heart, not because of the food but because of the families walking up and down the community. You know what I mean? Feeling safe and happy,” he said.
That experience planted the idea for Crisis Café, a business he envisioned not simply as another place to buy a drink, but as a space that could encourage people to walk, connect, and spend time in their communities.
