American R&B singer Brian McKnight is facing the threat of legal action from a local event promoter over a scheduled performance in Tobago later this month.
Nu Wave Event Solutions Ltd, a Trinidad-based entertainment company, has issued a pre-action protocol letter through their attorney, W. Michael Coppin, to Brian McKnight Touring Inc, claiming breach of contract and demanding either a cancellation of the upcoming appearance at the Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival on April 19, or a full refund of US$32,500.
According to the letter, Nu Wave had originally contracted McKnight to perform in Port of Spain on May 13, 2023, but the concert was postponed due to “national security concerns”. The promoter claims that under the revised agreement, McKnight was not to perform in Trinidad and Tobago without first setting a new date for the event or informing Nu Wave.
