HILTON International (Trinidad) Ltd has agreed to compensate one of its former chefs for an injury to her right wrist after she slipped and fell while on duty in December 2017.
The matter was set to proceed to trial on Tuesday before Justice Frank Seepersad, but when it was called, attorneys for the woman, Phillipa Nottingham, and those for the hotel informed the judge that they were seeking to settle the matter without it going to trial.
The matter was stood down for 20 minutes to allow the attorneys to receive instructions from their respective clients, and, when it was recalled, Justice Seepersad was informed that a settlement had in fact been arrived at.
