The government of Venezuela has called for accountability from Trinidad and Tobago in the wake of what it claims is a second oil spill emanating from the island, affecting its coasts, marine ecosystems and fishermen.
The purported spill triggered an investigation by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, including searches involving the local Air and Coast Guard.
However, in a release yesterday, State-owned oil company Heritage Petroleum claimed there was no evidence of large amounts of hydrocarbons in the seas surrounding the island.
