Game 29 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 served up a dramatic repeat of last year’s final, as the Guyana Amazon Warriors edged the Saint Lucia Kings by two wickets in a last-ball thriller at Providence Stadium.
Chasing 186, the Warriors needed 12 runs off the final over, with Kings skipper David Wiese taking responsibility with the ball. A no-ball full toss handed Moeen Ali a free hit, but he managed just a single. Tension mounted further when a delay was needed to fix the non-striker’s stumps—only for those very stumps to be shattered moments later by a brilliant direct hit from substitute fielder Shadrack Descarte, running out Moeen.
That left the Warriors requiring four off the final ball. Dwaine Pretorius, cool under pressure, launched a huge six over long-on to seal victory, sending the Warriors into the playoffs while eliminating the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots from contention.
