TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO's official Public Sex Offender website has been offline for months, currently displaying a '404 not found' error when accessed by the publicly available link.
The Express understands that the site, which made public the identification and offences of more than 20 sexual offenders since its launch in 2023, has been down for months, from as far back as April. At the url https:// sexoffenders.gov.tt/, visitors are told: 'the requested resource is not found.'
Established by Section 9 of the Sexual Offences Amendment Bill (2021), the website published the photos, name, aliases, dates of birth, addresses and convictions of offenders. The act allowed the Commissioner of Police to establish the Public Sex Offender website. It also prescribes that the Commissioner 'maintain' the website, ensuring that information published is in accordance with the law and accurate.
