ATTORNEYS representing Earl Richards, one of the ten men who is currently on remand for the murder of former independent senator senior counsel Dana Seetahal, are challenging the legality of their clients' detention at Teteron Barracks in Chaguaramas.
The legal team contends that holding an unconvicted individual on remand in what they argue functions as a "District Prison" contravenes specific provisions of Trinidad and Tobago's Prisons Act (Chapter 13:01).
Lawyers for Rajaee Ali, who is also charged with Seetahal's murder have not yet publicly raised this specific point concerning the nature of Teteron Barracks as a District Prison, where he is also being held.
