Head of the Trinidad Academy of Hinduism Pundit Mukram Sirjoo says that while the shifting of the date of the annual maintenance shutdown of the Point Lisas desalination plant, following negotiations with State water provider WASA, Government and Desalcott, is well-meaning, he would have preferred to be consulted on the matter.
He said while within the Hindu community there was the emphasis on preparations for Divali, there were other prominent festivals on the Hindu calendar during the month of August that would be affected.
His response followed a media release yesterday issued by the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).
