MINISTER of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein has alleged that social media blogger Rhoda Bharath received $3.3 million in state contracts, questioning how her company, Type 1 Media and Research Solutions, was awarded the job. However, Bharath defended her position and innocence, telling Newsday she was "worth every cent."
Kicking off his contribution to debate on the 2026 budget on October 17, Hosein responded to earlier questions by Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles-Robinson surrounding the government's source of funding.
He asserted that one source would be from recouping money by cutting out corruption. A few minutes later, Hosein dropped what he called the "hot bachs (bachannal)" on Bharath's time in state employ, which primarily occurred under Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert.
