The People’s National Movement (PNM) has called on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to immediately inform the nation whether Housing Minister Dr David Lee will continue to serve as a Minister of Government and senior member of Cabinet while facing criminal charges.
“The PNM is calling on the Prime Minister to act in accordance with established protocols, in the face of the issuance of an arrest warrant for Dr Lee. Public trust and confidence in the integrity of the Cabinet must be protected. Leadership demands accountability,” the party said in a release signed by Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles yesterday.
The release said the PNM noted with “the deepest concern” the statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS)confirming that judicial warrants had been issued for the arrest of Lee and businessman Hugh Leong Poi.
