PEOPLE’S National Movement (PNM) candidate for Moruga/Tableland Lisa Atwater praised her students for coming to her defence when a video making negative claims against her went viral on social media.
Last week the video, created by a young man, was posted on social media. Speaking during a PNM public meeting on Tuesday night at the Point Fortin East Secondary School, Atwater said that she saw the video as seeking to damage her campaign.
Atwater, a teacher at the Moruga Secondary School for more than 30 years, thanked the students who defended her, “When that video hit viral and I never taught the individual, never had an interaction, never, I said to myself, ‘My God they want to damage my campaign.’ And then I started to see my children come out in their numbers, my children defended me. I’ve repeatedly said that my children are going to save me and make sure that we are victorious, I thank them.”
