(Kaieteur News) – An adult people pleaser is governed by the abandoned child within. The bible admonishes, love your neighbour as yourself not more than not less than. People-pleasing is an unconscious survival strategy developed to preserve attachment, reduce conflict, avoid rejection, and maintain emotional safety.
The person is not simply trying to make others happy at their own expenses. Somewhere within their psyche, pleasing others has become associated with being safe, accepted, loved, or protected.
