FORMER UNC MP for Chaguanas West Dinesh Rambally is backing the PNM and has showered praises on Prime Minister Stuart Young and on the party.
Rambally, who attended the PNM meeting in Sangre Grande on Thursday night, said in an interview with the Express yesterday: 'It was an absolute pleasure to join the PNM meeting last night in Sangre Grande. It was a huge meeting. I imagine it probably had somewhere in the vicinity of 5,000 people or more.
'I want to say that my clear opinion at this point in time is that the PNM possesses the governance model. The party is a structured party. It has exhibited stability, and, therefore, I am of the clear opinion that it is the party that can take the country forward at this point in time, hence my attendance...I prefer on a personal note not to keep looking at the rear view mirror. I am really interested in seeing how the country can move forward. And that is why I am not just persuaded, but I am convinced that the PNM is the best political entity to take this country forward. I believe that Stuart Richard Young, SC, is deserving of a chance, not simply because of his age, but because of his competence and his approach. In the lead-up to becoming prime minister and then being prime minister and on the campaign trail, I have seen a young individual who is prepared to have discussions, who is prepared to meet with people, who is prepared to listen, and who is prepared to come to a decision that shows he wants to get it right in the interest of the country and not in the interest of political convenience or expediency. And that is a big seller for me,' Rambally stated.
