A PERFORMANCE by Machel Montano was one of the highlights of a sluggish period of mas in Downtown Port of Spain yesterday.

Several small bands made their way through the judging point, but there was a noticeable lull between crossings, giving the Downtown route a slower pace than in previous years.

Spectator numbers were also modest. Small clusters of onlookers, both young and elderly, gathered along the route, watching as the masqueraders passed.
