Like they did two years ago, Jamaica had to settle for fourth place in the mixed 4x400m relay, the final event on Wednesday's opening day of the World Under-20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

In a thrilling race from start to finish, the Jamaican quartet, which replaced Shameika McLean with Kevongaye Fowler and Jason Pitter with Jordan Rehudal from the preliminary round, fought gallantly but was narrowly edged out of the medals. The team clocked a national junior record 3:18.78.

The United States won gold in a championship record 3:15.31, while Czechia secured silver in a national record 3:18.16. Australia claimed bronze in an area record 3:18.45. Fifth-placed Great Britain and sixth-placed South Africa also recorded national marks.
