As the Prison SerĀvice conĀtinĀues reĀleasĀing high-risk deĀtainees toĀday, a process that beĀgan yesĀterĀday, Prime MinĀisĀter KamĀla PerĀsad-BissesĀsar says she beĀlieves lawĀsuits by forĀmer deĀtainees may not be sucĀcessĀful.
āIn my reĀspectĀful view, those chalĀlenges may not be very sucĀcessĀful beĀcause the regĀuĀlaĀtions themĀselves had givĀen a ridĀer (caveat) in terms of what you could come to sue for or not,ā PerĀsad-BissesĀsar said while speakĀing to reĀporters outĀside ParĀliaĀment yesĀterĀday.
She added: āWhat I could say is that we still live in a democĀraĀcy, we are govĀerned by the rule of law, and everyĀbody has acĀcess to the courts of the land. So, I will leave it up to the courts.ā
