Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath says his ministry has recorded a troubling increase in school violence, with data showing a shift in the number of incidents from outside to inside classrooms.
His comments came during the launch of the revised National School Code of Conduct (NSCC) at the Ministry of Education’s head office in Port of Spain yesterday.
Dowlath said the ministry’s evaluation of the School Oriented Policing Unit for the first term of the 2025/2026 academic year showed suspensions during lunchtime declined by approximately 15%.
