FRESH off their impressive runs at the recent World Athletics Relays, where they helped Jamaica to a world-record run in the 4x100 metres mixed relay, the Clayton twins, Tia and Tina , were in top form on Saturday night inside the National Stadium as both went under 11 seconds to finish one-two in the women's 100m at the JAAA First Puma meet. Competing in the sixth and final heat, it was Tia, the 2025 World Championships 100m silver medallist, who was out of the blocks the fastest and separated herself early to pull away from the field and win in 10.91 seconds. Tina finished strongly to grab second place in 10.98, while Jonielle Smith made it an MVP podium sweep by taking third in 11.06.
The times were season's bests for the twins as eight Jamaican women have now gone sub-11 seconds in the event this season. Tia became the second-fastest Jamaican woman over the distance in 2026 and the third-fastest in the world behind Shanese Walker with 10.80 and ahead of Elaine Thompson-Herah, who has 10.92. Adaejah Hodge of the British Virgin Islands is the world leader with her 10.77 clocking done in Gainesville, Florida, on April 18, where she defeated Walker.
Gary Card of the University of Technology was also an impressive winner on Saturday. The collegiate champion at the recent Penn Relays in Philadelphia defeated a strong field in his 100m heat, clocking 10.20. Rohan Watson of MVP was second in 10.29, while Uptimum Track Club's Bryan Levell, the country's fastest and the joint second- fastest man in the world this season with 9.90, was third in 10.34.
