Jamaicans Tina Clayton, Demisha Roswell, and Kelly Ann Beckford were among the winners at yesterday’s Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern meet in Switzerland, a World Continental Tour Silver meeting.Coming off a second-place finish a few days earlier at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial Athletics Grand Prix in Hungary, Clayton, the World Championships silver medallist, romped to victory in the women’s 100 metres in 11.02 seconds into a headwind of 0.1m/s. Jamaican athletes swept the podium with Jodean Williams, who won her heat in 11.09, finishing second overall, while Lavanya Williams, who was second behind Clayton in her heat, placed third overall in 11.12. The other Jamaican in the event, Krystal Sloley, finished ninth in 11.46. Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, who was entered to compete, did not start. Lavanya Williams later finished second in the women’s 200m, clocking 22.79 seconds behind Switzerland’s Fabienne Hoenke, who won in 22.78. Barbados’ Sada Williams was third in 22.91.National champion Demisha Roswell was in good form in the women’s 100m hurdles, edging American Raymiah Jones for victory. Roswell clocked 12.55 seconds just ahead of  Jones’ 12.56. Kerrica Hill completed a top-three finish in 12.69  while Brittany Anderson continued her comeback this season, finishing fourth in 12.73.Another national champion, Kelly Ann Beckford, was also victorious after capturing her pet event, the women’s 800 metres, in 2:00.53.National long jump champion Ackelia Smith finished fourth in the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.38m. Sophia Beckmon of the United States won the event with 6.85m.It was a struggle for the Jamaican men at the meet, with Rohan Watson producing the best finish after placing sixth in the 100 metres in 10.19. Ackeem Blake was eighth in 10.24. Ghana’s Rasheed Saminu won in 10.02 ahead of South Africa’s Bayanda Walaza (10.05) and Ireland’s Benjamin Richardson (10.06).In the men’s 110m hurdles, World Championships bronze medallist Tyler Mason, competing in only his second race of the season, finished seventh in 13.55.
