A PETIT BOURG businessman who successfully sued the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) after a sewer overflow flooded his business has been awarded more than $114,000 in damages, interest and legal costs.
High Court Master Coreen Findley, in an assessment of damages delivered on Wednesday, ordered WASA to pay Matthew Edwards, trading as Sure Bros Enterprises, a total of $114,747.81. The award comprises damages, accrued interest and prescribed legal costs. A stay of execution of the judgment was granted for 40 days.
The assessment followed a March 2025 ruling by Justice Frank Seepersad, who found WASA liable for the losses Edwards suffered after a collapsed underground sewer main caused sewage to back up into his business on October 27, 2021.
