Incorrect photo/headlines pairings on news aggregators

Jamaica Observer Limited has been made aware of screenshots circulating in the public space showing a small number of article headlines appearing alongside or attached to incorrect photographs. Our preliminary investigations indicate that the incorrect headline/photo pairings may be occurring through certain third-party news aggregation services. At this time, we have not identified the same issue occurring on our website or mobile applications.

While we have very little control over how news aggregators operate, our technical team and partners continue to investigate the matter to establish the source and extent of the issue and are taking all reasonable steps available to us to have the incorrect photo/headline pairings corrected or removed. Jamaica Observer takes the matter seriously, particularly where an incorrect headline may create a misleading or negative impression of the person or subject appearing in the photograph.

We sincerely apologise to all individuals and organisations who may have been affected by these incorrect pairings, particularly anyone whose photograph may have been associated with a headline or story in a manner that could cause confusion, embarrassment, reputational harm or distress.
