The family of 26-year-old Chad Joseph gathered at Las Cuevas RC Church for a funeral and a short procession from the family home after reports that he was among men killed in a US strike on October 12 in international waters.
However, despite this “memorial ceremony”, his aunt, Lynette Burnley, was holding out hope that the 27-year-old was still alive.
Speaking with a gathering of reporters from local and international outlets on Wednesday night following the ceremony, Burnley reiterated that the family had not had direct confirmation that Joseph was indeed one of the six people killed that day.
