(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) on Friday said it suspected its L2 transmission line was deliberately sabotaged after a major disruption left several areas without electricity.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, GPL said the L2 Transmission Line, which runs parallel to the L4 Transmission Line between the Grove and Sophia Substations, tripped at approximately 08:12hrs, resulting in a significant loss of power to the national grid and widespread outages across areas serviced by the line.
GPL said the line was inspected on October 29, 2026, less than 24 hours before the incident, and was found to be free of faults and vegetation.
