Forty-nine per cent of US dollar-denominated insurance claims related to Hurricane Melissa were fully settled and paid up to the end of September this year, the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) has disclosed.
Further, the IAJ says 54 per cent of insurance claims not related to motor vehicles were also fully settled and paid for the same period.
However, the association says member companies fully settle and paid 90 per cent and 77 per cent respectively of motor vehicle and Jamaican dollar-denominated claims arising from the passage of the deadly category five hurricane last October.
