WHILE pharmacists have been receiving medications under the Chronic Diseases Assistance Programme (CDAP), some say they are getting the drugs in limited quantities.
Over the weekend, the Ministry of Health denied a shortage of CDAP drugs and said that an investigation had been launched into potential distribution challenges between Nipdec and private pharmacies.
The Express had reported that it was notified of shortages of the antidepressant Sertraline, Rosuvastatin (a cholesterol treatment), Lisinopril (used to manage hypertension and treat heart failure) and Amlodipine (used to treat hypertension and prevent angina) under CDAP. Pharmacists yesterday added Levocarb, which is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, and Losartan 50mg, used for patients with Type 2 diabetes and to lower high blood pressure, to the list.
