Incoming Arima MP Pennelope Beckles will receive her instrument of appointment as Opposition Leader from President Christine Kangaloo Tuesday afternoon at President's House.
On Wednesday night Beckles made history as the first woman Opposition Leader out of the People's National Movement (PNM) after receiving the full endorsement of the party's General Council.
Her new position comes following the United National Congress' massive victory in the April 28 general election, securing 26 seats compared to the People's National Movement's 13 seats. The Tobago People's Party secured both Tobago seats (East and West).
